Its installation page lists wood burning stove installation among its specialties, and it stocks Pacific Energy and Jøtul wood stoves. Inside Tinley Park, in both its Cook and Will County parts, permits come from the village Building Division and are applied for on BS&A Online. The village’s building code says a permit is needed before beginning construction, alteration or repair, and the permit page lists HVAC/furnace work but not wood stoves, so ask building@tinleypark.org which permit applies. Residents may apply themselves; contractors need a Village of Tinley Park contractor’s license and current certificate of insurance before linking their BS&A account. Work is reviewed under the 2021 International Residential and Mechanical codes. Inspections are requested online by 3 p.m. the day before, in AM or PM windows.
Tinley Park Building PermitsUnder Tinley Park’s Preservation Chapter, no construction or alteration of a designated landmark or within a Historic Preservation District may proceed without a certificate of appropriateness. When a building permit is filed for such a property, the Director of Community Development notifies the Historic Preservation Commission, which judges effects on materials, height, massing and character using the Secretary of the Interior’s standards. A new chimney or exterior flue on a historic house would fall under that review.
Tinley Park Code § 157.09 (American Legal)Tinley Park’s Chapter 94 adopts the Cook County Environmental Control Ordinance, as amended over time, as the environmental ordinance of Tinley Park, Cook and Will Counties, and makes violating it a village offense. That means a home on the Will County side is held to the same Cook County–based air rules as one on the Cook side. Sections that depend on county administrators the village has not appointed do not apply.
Tinley Park Code Ch. 94 (American Legal)The Cook County ordinance requires an equipment registration permit before installing fuel-burning equipment or a connected chimney, but exempts domestic heating plants. Those include stoves and space heaters serving a single-family home, a duplex, or a building with fewer than three apartments. A stove in a larger condo or apartment building may need county registration, so check before buying.
Cook County Code Ch. 30, Art. III (Air) (Municode)This is a planning guide, not a permit determination. The local authority and your installer must confirm current requirements for your property and appliance. We have not verified project-specific approvals or fees.

Not for permits. Tinley Park issues building permits for the whole village, and its Chapter 94 adopts the Cook County Environmental Control Ordinance for both the Cook and Will County parts. For a house, that county ordinance exempts domestic stoves from its equipment registration permit.
The village code requires a permit before construction, alteration or repair, and HVAC/furnace work is on the permit list, but stoves are not named. Ask building@tinleypark.org which permit applies, then apply on BS&A Online yourself or through a village-licensed contractor.
Possibly, but work on a designated landmark or within a Historic Preservation District needs a certificate of appropriateness. When you file for the building permit, the village notifies the Historic Preservation Commission, which reviews exterior changes such as a new chimney for fit with the district.
