The Twin Falls page does not describe wood-stove installation, so ask whether it installs wood stoves here and who handles the city permit.

Inside city limits, the Building Safety Department at 203 Main Avenue East (208-735-7238) takes applications for building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits. The city says all mechanical and gas work must be permitted and that each scope of work needs its own permit, and homeowners working on their own primary residence must still pull permits. Its Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Permit Application asks for a description of work and the contractor’s Idaho license or registration number. City pages do not name wood stoves, so call to confirm the permit type for a stove, insert or chimney. Mechanical inspection requests go to 208-735-7299.
City of Twin Falls: Building Safety FAQsIdaho DEQ’s Twin Falls forecast gives a daily Residential Wood Heating action separate from outdoor burning, with a link to local wood-heating ordinances. DEQ’s ordinance page for the Twin Falls region lists only Twin Falls County Ordinance 196, which lets fire officials stop open burning, so we found no local rule that bans indoor stove use here. Check the forecast on winter inversion days anyway, and burn dry wood to keep smoke down.
Idaho DEQ: Twin Falls air quality forecastTwin Falls’ Historic Preservation Commission says no exterior part of a building in the City Park, Downtown or Warehouse historic districts may be erected, altered or demolished until a Certificate of Appropriateness is approved, and that the certificate is required whether or not a building permit is. Decisions can be appealed to the city council. A new chimney or through-roof flue in those districts should go to the commission first.
City of Twin Falls: Historic Preservation CommissionTwin Falls says all inspections for projects inside actual city limits are done by its Building Safety Department. In the city’s area of impact, building and HVAC/mechanical inspections are done by the Twin Falls County Building Department, while electrical and plumbing go to Idaho’s Division of Building Safety. Confirm which side of the line your address sits on before you apply.
City of Twin Falls: Building Safety FAQsIdaho DEQ ran a Twin Falls County woodstove changeout program in 2021, but its Woodstove Funding Resources page now says the only current DEQ rebate program is in St. Maries. The page says DEQ sponsors changeouts in specific areas as funding becomes available, and that new wood-burning appliances bought through a program must meet current EPA certification. Ask DEQ before counting on a rebate here.

Not from DEQ right now, as far as its site shows. DEQ ran a Twin Falls County changeout in 2021, but its funding page says the only current program is in St. Maries. Idaho Code 63-3022C still offers an income tax deduction when an EPA-certified stove replaces an uncertified one.
